Teachers
This challenge is designed to give your class experience in using a blog, collaboratively. Hopefully students and teachers will learn from the experience.
The aim is to follow the weekly instructions and build an interactive IWB file using ACTIVstudio, SMART Notebook or any other IWB software.
The directions will give an outline of requirements, however you are encouraged to add you own personal creative touches to your class file.
Post any questions to this page.
It would be great to share the completed files, so if you have any ideas how we could do that I’d like to hear from you.
You first task was to set up an IWB file with a map of the world and lock it and the heading in position. To do this in ACTIVstudio right click (CTRL click if you have a one button mouse) on the map (or text) move the mouse over EDIT and then select LOCK. In SMART Notebook right click (CTRL click if you have a one button mouse) on the map (or text) move the mouse down to LOCKING and then select LOCK IN PLACE. If you are using other software then try something similar.
The task for week 1 was to take a screen shot and import the image into your IWB file. If you are not sure how to take a screen shot then read on :
MAC users: press Command(Apple) + Shift + 4 which gives you a crosshair. Hold the mouse button down and drag it over the part of the screen you want and let go. An image file will appear on your desktop which you can simply drag into your Flipchart or Notebook file.
WINDOWS users press SHIFT + PRINT SCREEN which will copy the desktop image to the clipboard. Open an image editing package such as Photoshop or Fireworks or if you don’t have anything else Paint will do the job. Open a new file and past the clipboard image into the file. Crop the file to the desired shape and save the file as a JPEG and not a bitmap. Copy and paste the image into the flipchart.
